Our BA Honours degree in Education is ranked as the third top education course in the UK by the Times Good University Guide.

2. In the UK-wide National Student Survey (2012), our Civil Engineering, Journalism, Midwifery and Marketing courses came top in Scotland for student satisfaction.

3. The majority of our undergraduate degrees offer students an opportunity to undertake practical experience and our award winning Employability Link Centre works to ensure that UWS continues to have strong links with business and industry.

4. We have over 80 European partners in 21 countries, and our students can undertake a 3 to 12 month study abroad option in the EU (through the Erasmus programme) or US. Our School of Engineering offers students a 2-week placement with one our partner universities in China.

We offer a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and post experience courses within our three faculties Faculty of Business and Creative Industries Faculty of Education, Health and Social Sciences Faculty of Science and Technology The University offers a range of traditional degree programmes as well as a variety of niche programmes including Computer Games Technology, Computer Networking, Commercial Music, Filmmaking & Screen-writing, Sports Journalism, Physics with Nuclear Technology, Applied Biomedical Science, Mechatronics, Civil Engineering, Sports and Social Work. UWS also hosts the largest school of Nursing in Scotland with courses in both Adult and Mental Health Nursing while being one of only three institutions in Scotland to offer the BSc Midwifery degree. Some of our courses are one of a kind with our Motorsport Design Engineering course being the only one in Scotland and our Criminal Justice course being the only programme of its type in the UK. Living in Student Accommodation is a great way to meet new people, make new friends, and gain some independence. Whether you choose a modern en-suite or studio flat at our recently opened Ayr Campus, or take advantage of the new £13.2million student accommodation which opened at Paisley in September 2012 or simply want to be at the heart of campus life in Hamilton, there’s never been a better time to stay in our student residences. With accommodation starting from just £82 per week, UWS accommodation is an affordable choice. All of our accommodation is self-catered and cooking facilities are provided. You can apply for accommodation when you have received an offer of a place to study. Priority for places is normally given to first year students who live more than 40 miles from the campus towns or more than an hour’s travelling time away. We also provide listings and advice on private accommodation in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton and Paisley.
