It should come as no surprise that health care is an essential industry, and will continue to be in high demand no matter what else is going on with the national economy. However, it takes more than just a clean CV to get yourself noticed by recruiting professionals in the field. Follow these helpful hints to make sure that your CV gets moved to the top of the stack for your next application.

Match your CV to the job description

It is important to tailor your resume or CV to the type of job you are seeking. For example, if you are applying to a non-clinical position or an administrative role, use a resume format. On the other hand, if you are applying to an academic or scientific position, a CV is preferred. Be sure to ask in advance as well. Many times, just showing you are ready to ask questions and want to follow their recommendation can be a good indication of how good a worker you’ll be. This way you’ll stay prepared as well.

Include specific keywords

Many health care facilities now use a software program that identifies keywords in CVs that are submitted. Try to be very specific in your descriptions of your previous employment experience. For instance, if you managed a certain number of caseloads in a previous position, be sure to estimate the number. Recruiters appreciate when candidates are as specific as possible with regards to their past employment experience. The more hard facts you can include, the better the picture the recruiter will have of your comprehensive experience.  Be sure you also list years and dates as accurately as possible. This will give hiring managers the ability to take a quick glance at your experience and time in the industry.

Highlight all your training experience

Even if you think a particular certification or program is not relevant to the job you are applying for, it may be worthwhile to include. Having a diverse background in the health care field is almost always a plus. This shows you have a comprehensive understanding of the health care industry and are willing to adapt to the task at hand. Make sure your education is meticulously outlined as well. Any information related to your certifications and licenses should be prominently displayed at the beginning of your CV because recruiters often look for this information first to evaluate a candidate.

In addition, if you are in the middle of continuing education classes, make sure to include that information on your CV.
