Firefighter
Any emergency services career could find its way onto this list, but being a firefighter gets some extra acknowledgement because of the excellent benefits, universality and danger that are inherent to this position. Firefighters make about $45,000 on average in major American cities, and less in other places, such as rural towns, but the real draw of the job is the camaraderie between coworkers and the thrill of a rescue operation.

Their every decision is amplified in importance by the circumstances of the game, particularly if it is a playoff or championship match.
